Rooted in Jesus

Opening Thought

Every day we are surrounded by voices telling us what to believe, how to think, and where to find meaning and fulfillment. Paul reminds us that following Jesus isn't just how the Christian life begins—it is how it continues. Because Jesus is enough, we can follow Him with complete confidence. We don't need to search for something more; we simply need to stay rooted in the One who has already done everything necessary for our salvation.

Today’s Scripture

“And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him.”
Colossians 2:6–7 (NLT)

Reflection

Paul's encouragement is simple but profound: continue following Jesus.

Our world constantly offers new ideas, new philosophies, and new promises of fulfillment. Yet Paul reminds us that everything we truly need is already found in Christ. He has forgiven our sins, canceled our debt, made us alive with Him, and given us new life. Because Jesus has left nothing undone, we don't have to keep searching for something else.

Following Jesus isn't about trying harder to earn God's acceptance. It's about confidently, and completely, walking with the One who has already secured it.

Biblical Tension

Culture says we need something more than Jesus to find meaning, purpose, and fulfillment.

God's Word declares that everything we need for life, salvation, and hope is found in Christ alone.

Remember...culture constantly changes. God's Word never changes.

Heart Check

What have I been looking to besides Jesus to give me what only He can provide?

What influences am I exposed to daily that have become more influential than Jesus?

This Week

Believe: Jesus has completely paid for my sin, canceled my debt, and there is nothing I can add to what He has already accomplished.

Pray: Lord, help me remain rooted in You. Give me the courage to trust You above every other voice and to follow You completely, with confidence.

Do: Spend five minutes each morning abiding with Jesus in His Word and prayer before beginning your day. Then intentionally choose one situation each day where you will trust Christ instead of yourself.

Closing Encouragement

Following Jesus isn't about having all the answers—it's about COMPLETELY trusting the One who does. As you walk with Him this week, remember that there is nothing you need beyond Jesus because there is nothing Jesus has left undone.

Remember...When Jesus is above all, He changes all.
